摘要: Metals play important roles in the human body, maintaining cell structure and regulating gene expression, neurotransmission, antioxidant response, to name a few. However, excessive metal accumulation nervous system may be toxic, inducing oxidative stress, disrupting mitochondrial function, impairing activity of numerous enzymes. Damage caused by result permanent injuries, including severe neurological disorders. Epidemiological clinical studies have shown strong correlation between aberrant exposure number diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, autism spectrum disorders, Guillain–Barre Gulf War syndrome, Huntington’s multiple Parkinson’s Wilson’s disease. Here, we briefly survey literature relating role metals neurodegeneration.
