摘要: Abstract Flunisolide, a new synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid, was administered as nasal spray via squeeze bottle to patients with ragweed hay fever for 4 wk during the season. Fifty-one patients, paired on basis of similar skin sensitivity intradermal (⩽ 10 −1 PNU/ml), were randomly assigned in double-blind manner either an aerosol-containing flunisolide dissolved vehicle (a mixture polyethylene glycol and propylene glycol) or alone. Flunisolide sprayed 0.025% solution two times each nostril twice day. Forty-eight completed study. Three dropped out reasons unrelated usage. On physician interviews daily symptom diary scores, receiving showed significant improvement symptoms when compared their counterparts vehicle. No systemic steroid side effects observed. Morning plasma cortisol levels measured prior after 3 therapy no difference between treatment groups. Adverse local efiects minor noted less frequently than Flunisolide's topical efficacy lack adrenal suppression provide distinct advantages over other preparations available United States seasonal allergic rhinitis.
