The Last Drag: An Evaluation of an LGBT-Specific Smoking Intervention

摘要: Many studies in the past 20 years have documented that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals smoke at rates exceed general population, yet, there been few reports of smoking cessation interventions targeting this population. This study on data from 233 participants The Last Drag, a seven-session, six-week group education support intervention tailored for LGBT smokers. Data were collected during first last sessions, one, three, six months post-intervention. As with many over time, missing is challenge determining success rates, but even using most conservative estimates, nearly 60% smoke-free end intervention, 36% remained by rate comparable to, or better, than mainstream reported literature. Drag an effective, low-cost, LGBT-specific community can be replicated other communities.
