摘要: Abstract Songs of migratory indigo buntings, Passerina cyanea , were compared among kin for birds known family history. In one population 9·7% the banded nestlings seen in a later year within 2 km their birth site. Nearly all males that returned to natal area had song unlike father's song. Four females mated with male whose was like (two four father). The proportion (or, females, father's) close expected by chance, based on number study area. Brothers, sisters, half-siblings and three-generation (maternal paternal grandfathers grandsons granddaughters' mates) different songs. Birds neighbourhood came from neighbourhoods not relatives. dispersal accompanies long-distance seasonal migration disruption social bonds has effect dispersing Buntings do appear use songs recognize mate choice; are therefore kinship markers this species.
