摘要: In the early 1800s, children who were fortunate enough to receive an education did so in one-room schoolhouses. Attendance was sporadic and often depended on availability of a teacher completion chores around home or farm. Together with small number friends neighbors, present each day would be instructed fundamentals reading, writing, arithmetic using whatever materials available at pace necessary accommodate their divergent skills. Following industrial revolution late it became fashionable view schools as “factories” “raw materials” one become products capable meeting demands industrialized society (Cubberley, 1916). Compulsory education, child labor laws, waves immigrants entering United States 1900s produced staggering increases school enrollments corresponding state federal expenditures public (Fagan & Wise, 2007).
