摘要: Abstract The ball-on-ring method was used to investigate the fracture behavior of thick diamond film samples prepared by high-power DC plasma jet CVD method. Both as-grown and polished were tested. Great efforts made correlate data obtained microstructural features tested samples, particularly grain size pre-existing defects. For widely scattered such that it hard find any dependence on strength toughness. Whilst for a linear relationship inverse square root (the well-known Petch-Hall equation) found fit reasonably well. This suggests refinement is also an effective way improving mechanical properties films. Pre-existing micro-cracks are important factor affecting
