Ln3T2N6 (Ln=La, Ce, Pr; T=Ta, Nb), a New Family of Ternary Nitrides Isotypic to a High Tc Cuprate Superconductor

摘要: Abstract A new family of ternary nitrides Ln3T2−xN6 (Ln=rare earth; T=Nb or Ta, 0≤x≤0.2) has been successfully synthesized using Ga Li3N as a flux. These compounds crystallize in the tetragonal space group I4/mmm (No. 139) with parameters a≈4.05 and c=20.2 A. They are isostructural high Tc superconducting cuprate La2−xSrxCaCu2O6. Extended Huckel band structure calculations show that contain conducting TN2 layers similar to CuO2 layers. However, magnetic measurements performed on these do not any transition down 4 K.
