摘要: Polarized growth is a distinctive feature of the fungal kingdom. Although this process also occurs in some plant cells, notably pollen tubes and root hairs, cells generally grow by diffuse or intercalary extension their walls, only exceptionally seen fungi such as fruit-body expansion mushrooms (see Chap. 22). Even budding yeasts can be viewed form apical growth, different from hyphal with respect to degree polarization wall synthetic activities (Wessels 1990).
