摘要: The Drosophila clock genes period (per) and timeless (tim) have been studied behaviorally biochemically, but to date there has no viable culture system for studying the cell biology of clock. We cultured pupal ring glands attached central nervous observed rhythms gene expression in prothoracic gland 4–7 days. A daily rhythm Per protein can be entrained by light culture, even when neural activity is blocked tetrodotoxin. In cultures maintained a week constant darkness, per-luciferase reporter revealed circadian bioluminescence. As first from Drosophila, provides unique advantages investigating interactions between cellular physiology.
