摘要: A quantitative valuation study has been made of Australian state surveys with the specific goals (1) establishing 'worth' current programs upgrading government geoscientific information infrastructure, and (2) considering results in terms strategic planning. The done from perspective community as a whole undertaken two phases reflecting different objectives exploration industry policy-making. This paper reports on second part this process, measuring impact upgraded survey data mineral policy decision processes. methodology developed is comparative approach used to determine net benefit foregone by not infrastructure. underlying premise for geological that existing sets will have probability deposit be detected. introduces significant technical component requirement model both favorability occurrence generations data. estimation potential uses modern methods, including U.S. Geological Survey three-part resource-assessment process computer-based prospectivity modeling. To test was assessed porphyry copper type deposits Yarrol Province, central Queensland. Results case supports strategy facilitate effective improving accuracy acquiring new data, resource management. It determined Province going area would considered permissible almost doubled. implication result large tracts potentially mineralized land identified using modeling showed marked increase number targets target rankings set. reduction discovery risk also associated set, conclusion supported fact known mines surface exposure are sets. These highlight absence critical identification prospective ground. Quantitative assessment seen complementary processes provide support increasingly sophisticated needs clients. Significant additional gains value can achieved through in-house analysis characterization individual sets, integration interpretation incorporation uncertainty.
