Restless legs syndrome: diagnosis, epidemiology, classification and consequences.

摘要: Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a sensorimotor disorder characterised by complaint of an almost irresistible urge to move the legs. RLS diagnosed clinically means four essential criteria International Legs Syndrome Study Group. In doubtful cases, neurophysiological examinations, such as polysomnography and/or suggested immobilisation test, can be performed confirm clinical suspicion RLS. Several other conditions may present complaints with features similar RLS; careful sleep history required avoid misdiagnosis. Three different scales have been validated assess severity general population, prevalence ranges from 0.1% 11.5%, high number patients affected primary form disturbance (70%–80%). However, several associated RLS, iron deficiency, uraemia, pregnancy and polyneuropathy. Furthermore, recent studies show that also type 2 diabetes mellitus multiple sclerosis. has negative impact on sleep, cognitive functions, quality life mental status. Higher awareness among physicians required; it remains underdiagnosed condition.
