摘要: An investigation was conducted to assess the concentration of heavy metals in sediments three selected locations along Lagos lagoon comprising University Lagos, Ebute Metta and Ijora zones correlate effect metal concentrations on benthic microbial population vis a open water bacterial population. Physiochemical analysis revealed pH 8.94, 11.98 7.82 respectively. The lead more zone (Oko Oba) with value 22.75 mg/100 g, while iron 45.31 g. Cadmium higher than other 14.63 Mercury concentrated 7.83 for chromium 6.81 Levene’s statistical shows there is no significant difference variances all across understudy. However, ANOVA that mean measurements are significantly different at 5% level significance except mercury where were not confidence. (bacteria) less surface (control). had highest cfu/ml determined by log10 with control 3.51 sediments. cfu fungi samples zone, 1.7, 1.54 1.6 bacteria isolated identified were Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Arthrobacter sp andAchromobacter sp. Fungi were Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida utilissimaand Sporobolomyces sp. values public health pose threat survival both humans aquatic life. immediate attention from concerned authorities required order protect its dependants further pollution diseases.
