摘要: Packets trapped in a forwarding loop can rapidly saturate network links and disrupt communications until they are removed by the IP Time-To-Live (TTL) mechanism. This does not pose significant problem when loops rare, as is case with mature routing protocols such OSPF BGP. However, newer more experimental settings, peer-to-peer overlays, active networks multicast, faults likely. In these cases, greater degree of protection against effects desirable. paper presents Icarus, framework for detecting protocols. Our key insight to add small Bloom filter packet header probabilistically detect looping behavior. We have implemented Icarus inside ANTS toolkit. find that scheme simple, efficient widely applicable like TFL, yet ensures significantly earlier detection.
