摘要: Instability of low-lying saturated subgrade soil contributes to ‘clay-pumping’ that is responsible for contaminating the overlying track materials. The clay pumping occurs under action cyclic loading (train loading) due build-up excess pore water pressure. work contained in paper focused on monotonic response fouled ballast and a crucial first step towards more complete analysis effect. In this paper, bounding surface plasticity model presented clay-fouled within framework critical state mechanics, adopting isotropic hardening non-associated flow rule. role constitutive parameters their dependence various levels fouling discussed. size shape influenced by extent fouling. calibrated against results consolidated drained triaxial tests conducted using large scale cylindrical apparatus designed built at University Wollongong. was successfully validated testing an array confining pressures, predictions were found be good agreement with laboratory data.
