摘要: Abstract The statistics that best describe optical and radio signals have been scattered by random refractive-index irregularities presented an open question for some time. Different models used close to the medium (log-normal) far from it (Rician), signal behavior in intermediate zone has particularly difficult characterize. In this work, we address experimentally problem of a general systematic description all Fresnel-zone regimes strengths scatter. We make use multifrequency, phase-coherent transmitted through ionosphere obtain bivariate representation complex-signal then form conclusions based on chi-square tests four hypotheses against histograms intensity phase. find neither log-normal nor Gaussian generalization Rician provides generally valid complete scintillation but two-component model upon them does. suggest, further, equal or superior efficacy might be achieved simpler Nakagami distribution normal At present no such exists can also account correlation between phase, which is salient feature our observations.
