摘要: Since the 1970s, remarkable advances have been made in early diagnosis, treatment, and survival rates of patients with cancer. This has coincided rapid changes healthcare industry. As cancer transformed into a chronic disease that generally is treated outpatient setting, financial burden on their families grown. Insurance premiums, deductibles, copayments, transportation, lost income, miscellaneous out-of-pocket expenses are just some hidden, nonreimbursable costs significantly affect stability over time. In addition, certain populations at greater risk burden, which may compliance treatment as well patient outcomes. article presents an overview these hidden costs, implications referral resources for oncology nurses. Healthcare providers responsibility to assess need assist them accessing resources.
