India and Fast Breeder Reactors

摘要: India has long pursued a fast breeder program, motivated in part by the availability of only poor quality uranium resources within country. But progress so far been disappointing, with one test reactor having constructed and chequered operating history. The larger Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor that is being design compromises safety will produce expensive electricity, but could be used as way to convert reactor-grade plutonium weapon-grade plutonium. Projections offered nuclear establishment growth reactors are methodologically flawed based on very optimistic assumptions.
