摘要: Summary 1. The background of 150 hospitalized cases severe kwashiorkor has been studied with the use patients' siblings as controls. At same time growth rates have recorded various children who lived in social setting patients but had not developed kwashiorkor. 2. These studies indicate that disease tends to occur among child populations show widespread evidence retardation. Other pertinent findings are early failure lactation and dietary deficiency associated poverty, ignorance, prevalence infection, a general state poor housing disorganization unskilled laborers an area rapid industrial development. 3. Preliminary results given for progress 132 visited at least once within 18 months their discharge from wards. Of these 67 per cent gained weight continuously; 25 become stationary weight, lost or relapsed; 8 died. Most failures occurred during first 9 after discharge. follow-up study is designed extend 5 years.
