摘要: Abstract Tail-biting data from different studies are difficult to compare because a range of definitions tail-biting behaviour and lesions used. Although records abattoirs provide large database, their usefulness is restricted as under-recorded environmental husbandry factors associated with the unlikely be known. Both farm abattoir no information on number pigs biting, only those bitten. Studying individual animals that tail-bite should give better understanding pig’s motivation which components its environment adjusted improve welfare. This review examines existing literature in but considered new perspective using three descriptive behavioural types, namely, ‘two-stage’, ‘sudden-forceful’ ‘obsessive’, each may have motivational bases. The article also considers affect type discusses why this such complicated field it often draw conclusions available research.
