摘要: Extrastriate cortical areas are frequently composed of subpopulations neurons encoding specific features or stimuli, such as color, disparity, faces, and patches similar stimulus properties typically embedded in interconnected networks, the attention face-processing network. The goal current study was to examine effective connectivity subsectors same area with highly neuronal response properties. We first recorded single- multi-unit activity identify two anterior part macaque intraparietal sulcus (IPS) showing depth structure selectivity then employed electrical microstimulation during functional magnetic resonance imaging these determine patches. IPS we identified—with some cases separated by only 3 mm—were effectively connected remarkably distinct networks both dorsal ventral stream three macaques. Conversely, differences could account for known visual-to-motor gradient within IPS. These results clarify role a pivotal brain region where visual interact object analysis. Thus, addition anatomical individual areas, provides novel key insights into widespread that support behavior.
