摘要: Abstract The effects of organic- (sewage and blue-green algae) hydrocarbon- (no. 2 fuel oil) amended sediments on growth schedules, age size at maturity, fecundity, reproductive output were examined for the opportunistic polychaetes Streblospio benedicti Webster Capitella sp. I. two species responded very differently to sediments. For S. benedicti, asymptotic was reduced first reproduction occurred later in algae hydrocarbon treatments compared marsh mud only sewage treatments. Organic- amendedsediments did not affect per brood measures fecundity or C N investment benedicti. In contrast, I exhibited strong, positive responses organically sediments; this seen terms more rapid (2 × ), younger (50%), larger (6 higher (4 ). Reproductive output, a relative measure investment, directly affected by either species. enriched settings, benefits body appear include without increasing cost (in output) producing young. population explosions response organic enrichment are result earlier increased fecundity. Positive population-level contaminated may be its ability tolerate conditions that other members community do not.
