摘要: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a series of symptoms including insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia, elevated fasting blood glucose levels, and hepatic steatosis. As key criterion in MetS, the onset resistance related to abnormal levels circulating free fatty acids adipokines. It has been discovered recent years that metabolites pathogen-associated molecular patterns intestinal/gut microbiota are also important factors cause MetS. Saponins main components many botanicals traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), such as ginseng, platycodon, licorice, alfalfa. They have poor bioavailability, but can be transformed into secondary glycosides aglycones by intestinal microbiota, further being absorbed. Based on vivo vitro data, we found saponins their preventive effect effective targets distributed intestine other organs human body. Intestinal involve pancreatic lipase, dietary cholesterol, microbiota. Other include central appetite, nuclear receptors PPAR LXR, AMPK signaling pathway adipokines etc. In view bioavailability saponins, it inferred for prototype-saponins interfere with MetS mainly located intestine, activation may from flora. We suggest role saponin intervention should investigated.
