摘要: Reduction spots in marine and continental red beds were investigated for the presence of organic matter. The samples are from a wide variety localities host rocks ranging age Precambrian to Cretaceous. It was found that carbon is present minor number only, where it major component. Organic reduction spot cores always associated with uranium minerals. Rock-Eval pyrolysis shows this matter depleted H enriched O relative possible precursor materials. Pyrolysis-GC-MS indicates insoluble, high-molecular weight material primarily consists aromatic structures, similar other occurrences mineralization. stable isotopic composition highly variable (−23.1 −49.8% PDB) but consistent derivation oil, gas, or bacterial biomass. In devoid carbon, isotopes (C, O) carbonates not significantly different therefore do provide evidence former carbon. Several possibilities origin discussed no conclusive can be presented yet. Mineralogically, generally those without. A significant difference abundance roscoelite organic-poor spots, while mineral absent organic-rich ones.
