摘要: Phyllanthus niruri is a plant used in Brazilian folk medicine for the treatment of urolithiasis. It was previously observed that P. shows no toxicity, potentially increases calculus voiding by stone forming patients and inhibits endocytosis calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystals MDCK cells. In addition, rat model urolithiasis it reduced growth. present study, we evaluated effect an aqueous extract on CaOx crystallization vitro. precipitation induced addition 0.1 M sodium to unfiltered urine samples from Wistar rats (n=14) normal humans (n=18) presence or absence (0.25 mg/ml urine). The immediately 24 h later. vitro human produced typical mono- dihydrated crystals, but only few were found urine. did not inhibit even more obtained, although they significantly smaller than those control Crystal aggregation after also inhibited extract. results showed inhibitory crystal growth urine, suggesting may interfere with early stages formation represent alternative form and/or prevention
