摘要: The role played by individual ecosystems as components of the earth’s biosphere is a fundamental ecological question. With respect to organic material, in addition knowing rate carbon fixation and respiration within ecosystem, it equally important know how ecosystem interacts with its adjacent ecosystems. Is autotrophic subsidizing regions or heterotrophic dependent on allochthonous inputs from surrounding areas? Questions such these have constituted central theme for much research conducted over past thirty years tidally coupled coastal systems.
