摘要: Intertidal wetlands such as saltmarshes and mangroves provide numerous important ecological functions, though they are in rapid global decline. To better conserve restore these wetland ecosystems, we need an understanding of the fundamental natural bottlenecks thresholds to their establishment long-term maintenance. Despite inhabiting similar intertidal positions, biological traits systems differ markedly structure, phenology, life history, phylogeny dispersal, suggesting large differences biophysical interactions. By providing first systematic comparison between mangroves, unravel how interplay species-specific life-history traits, interactions biogeomorphological feedback processes determine where, when what can establish, ecosystem stability, constraints genetic connectivity populations at landscape level. understand process interactions, research into development, adaptations overcome critical requires a truly interdisciplinary approach.
