Changes in water footprint of crop production in Beijing from 1978 to 2012: a logarithmic mean Divisia index decomposition analysis

摘要: Abstract Beijing has been facing increasingly severe water scarcity. Water consumed by crop production is a notable proportion. To estimate total consumption of in Beijing, we refer to the footprint concept, taking both direct and indirect into account. The (WF) consists blue, green grey components. We use logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) decomposition method quantitatively analyze driving factors for changes WF. From 1978 2012, WF experienced decrease 35.1%. This offset primarily resulted from rapid urbanization. structure technological acted as additional factors. On contrary, surged population scale effect hindered conservation process. further promote production, have continue improving saving technology adjusting plantation structure. Crop shows greater blue than ones, so rain-fed crops should be promoted. work elucidates how diverse determinants affect which can provide detailed insights summary outlooks local sustainability.
