摘要: Restoring seasonally dry tropical forest is a worldwide priority, since it the most threatened of all major types. In Veracruz, Mexico, has been reduced to fragments and fallows representing 7% original cover. Our objective was determine effect site condition seasonality on seedling survival relative growth rate in height diameter selected native tree species. We studied plant performance during two rainy seasons existent woody vegetation > 1 m height. A total 960 seedlings were transplanted: 40 individuals six species (Cedrela odorata, Ceiba aesculifolia, Guazuma ulmifolia, Ipomoea wolcottiana, Luehea candida, Tabebuia rosea) four fallows. Seedling monitored every months years. Survival higher sites with more richness, whereas positively correlated Relative rate was for season. less vegetation, poor only survived. Overall, showed highest (82-90%) lowest rate. had high (20-94%) rate; Cedrela (3-7%) results suggest that condition, seasonality, selection act together early establishment. vital implication terms ecological restoration importance taking advantage even if scarce.
