摘要: Phosphatidylinositol transfer protein (PITP) was originally identified and named because of its ability to transport phosphatidylinositol through the aqueous phase from one membrane compartment another. Recent data, however, indicate unanticipated roles for PITP in coupling PIP2 synthesis signal transduction reactions traffic mammalian cells, recently purified on basis restore cellular functions permeabilized cells depleted cytosolic proteins. These include cell-surface receptor-regulated hydrolysis by phospholipases C beta- gamma-isozymes, regulated release secretory granules, budding constitutive vesicles immature granules trans-Golgi network. In yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a mutant strain with defect pathway (SEC14) therefore required cell viability; Yarrowia lipolytica, is differentiation mycelial growth form. We are just beginning unravel intriguing mechanisms which PITP/SEC14 may accomplish function eukaryotic trafficking, BioEssays 20.423-432, 1998. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
