Rhone Thesis dated: March 1994 The overall objective of this study is to investigate the psychosocial problems experienced by adolescents with sickle cell anemia. To attain objective, following issues were addressed researcher: (a) peer relationships; (b) independence; (c) stress; and (d) self— concept. A descriptive research design was used in study. questionnaire developed researcher utilized administered via telephone conversation/interview 13 anemia located Metropolitan Atlanta area. results indicated that participants diagnosed maintain good relationships, high levels stress, have low self—concept and, not achieved an appropriate level independence regard a sense personal freedom.
