摘要: Abstract Background/Aims: The neuropeptide somatostatin exerts multiple functions in the gastrointestinal tract and may also play a regulatory role inflammatory bowel disease, as several other neuropeptides do, e.g., substance P or calcitonin gene-related peptide. Therefore, expression of receptors was evaluated tissue sections diseased intestines compared with controls. Methods: Somatostatin were measured intestinal samples 6 patients Crohn's 3 ulcerative colitis, 7 controls using receptor autoradiography 125 I-[Tyr ]-octreotide I-[Leu 8 ,D-Trp 22 ,Tyr 25 ]-somato-statin-28 radioligands. Substance similarly on adjacent sections. Results: are present high density most intramural veins, but not arteries, florid disease colitis. specific affinity for somatostatin-14 -28, well octreotide. remain undetectable veins noninflamed control intestine. identified receptor-positive arteries. Conclusions: inflamed suggests an active involvement this peptide pathophysiology perhaps inflammation general.
