摘要: Abstract The mechanical behavior of porous media is largely governed by the interactions among coexisting components. In a companion paper [Int. J. Eng. Sci. 40 (2002) 1807–1833], continuum theory multiphase has been developed that capable rigorously characterizing these interactions. this paper, results previously obtained are used to develop macroscale model where state medium described macrostate variables measurable through experiments. variational structure proposed investigated. All formulations presented in Lagrangian setting. It shown volume fractions fluids can be considered as internal microscopically represent capillary relaxation processes. By virtue description theory, Biot's principle virtual dissipation Solids Struct. 13 (1977) 579] recovered, and link between mixture theories established.
