摘要: Mismanagement of soil and water resources may not only contribute to an escalation global poverty but also jeopardize ecosystem services, with significant costs the environment. Although concentrated within one geographic location (3,500 million hectares), equivalent approximately 24 % earth’s land surface is degraded land, about 2 billion people (one third population) lack access safe affordable for domestic purposes. It therefore critical develop strategies targeted at root causes these problems. However, do so would require a rapid reliable information system that has been elusive because complexity environment limitations existing tools. The increased availability development remote sensing data analysis tools have opened up new possibilities exploring monitoring environmental variables influencing key use management options. Here, we explore major concepts, describe constraints, future potential mapping providing near real-time on quality in context practices employed scale.
