Shareability in optical networks: beyond bandwidth optimization

摘要: We extend the famous path protection sharing scheme and introduce generalized concept. In this concept, we allow for additional of important node devices in order to reduce network cost. These (e.g., optical-electronic-optical regenerators pure all-optical converters) constitute dominant cost factor an optical backbone network, reduction their number is paramount importance. For demonstration purposes, concept 1:N shared electronic needed cope with transmission impairments. Considerable reductions budget are demonstrated through numerical examples.
