摘要: For patients with end-stage lung disease, transplantation is a lifesaving therapy. Currently however, the number of who require transplant exceeds donor lungs available. One contributing factors to this conservative mindset physicians are concerned about transplanting marginal due potential risk primary graft dysfunction. Ex vivo perfusion (EVLP) technology has allowed for expansion pool organs by enabling assessment and reconditioning these grafts before transplant. Ongoing efforts optimize therapeutic EVLP underway. Researchers have adopted use different large small animal models generate translational preclinical data. This includes rejected human lungs, pig rat lungs. In review, we summarize some key current literature studies relevant each major model platforms identify advantages disadvantages platform. The review aims guide investigators in choosing an appropriate species suit their specific goals study, ultimately aid translation therapy meet growing needs patient population.
