摘要: Extreme weather events like tropical cyclone result in colossal catastrophe during landfall causing widespread inland flooding due to storm surge and also the post-landfall event extensive damage infrastructural facilities property hinterland. The state of Odisha located east coast India experienced a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) named Phailin post-monsoon season October 2013. Timely warnings alertness on coordinated with massive evacuation effort by National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMA) were quite effective minimizing loss human life. However, there was trial destruction extremely high winds rainfall that followed major infrastructure State. This study critically investigated phase focusing impact power distribution network using Weather Research Forecasting (WRF) model. evaluated spatial temporal variability wind speed from WRF model configured for three different domains selecting best available microphysics land surface parameterization schemes. proposed outer, intermediate, inner had resolutions 27, 9, 3 km respectively provided estimate onshore speed, track forecast, highly relevant management transmission network. In context application Indian region, this is novel probably first time linked suitable customized output evaluate its observed tripping electric grids. dynamic outputs compared data synchrophasors used electrical technology monitored transient behavior systems real-time operations. A close examination results signifies atmospheric performed exceptionally well capturing lines, overall knowledge obtained has broader scope develop framework efficient planning operations network, resource allocation, emergency preparedness.
