Suppression of drum brake squeal through structural modifications using finite element method

摘要: Reducing squeal from brakes system has become a challenging task for brake engineers. To date, large number of proposals have been implemented in tackling disk but very few solutions forwarded drum assembly. This paper attempts to propose solution reduce through structural modifications by using the Finite Element (FE) method. A three-dimensional FE model an actual is developed and validated. First, baseline simulated predict then several are proposed. Finally, dynamic transient analysis performed selected modified models order confirm predicted results obtained complex eigenvalue analysis.
