摘要: Theoretical models of cognitive mechanisms assumed to be involved in recurrent depression are discussed and a battle process between compensatory coping strategies the automatic processing negative information is suggested. Preliminary support for model comes from study that investigated preferences positive tape-recorded self-statements clinically depressed (CD), previously (PD) never (ND) individuals. The results showed (1) correlation dysfunctional attitudes dysphoric symptoms CDs PDs, but not NDs; (2) NDs preferred self-statements, whereas neither nor self-statements; (3) PDs exhibited different patterns preference depending on levels symptoms. For example, simultaneous high both resulted self-statements. This finding as possible strategy avoiding PDs. Clinical implications treatment prevention discussed.
