摘要: We review the post-glacial climate variability along East Antarctic coastline using terrestrial and shallow marine geological records compare these reconstructions with data from elsewhere. Nearly all show a near-synchronous Early Holocene optimum (11.5-9 ka BP), coinciding deglaciation of currently ice-free regions recorded in ice sediment cores. Shallow coastal anomalies appear to be out phase after warm period, complex regional patterns, but an overall trend cooling records. A Mid Late period is present many lake Although there are some differences timing this it typically occurs somewhere between 4.7 1 BP, which overlaps similar found Peninsula The sometimes abrupt events different points number mechanisms that we have yet identify. neoglacial 2 BP onwards. There no evidence for equivalent Northern Hemisphere Medieval Warm Period only weak circumstantial few places cool event crudely time Hemisphere's Little Ice Age. need well-dated, high resolution Antarctica particularly Terre Adelie, Dronning Maud Land Enderby fully understand anomalies, disparity records, determine significance heterogeneous temperature trends being measured today. © 2010 Elsevier B.V.
