Gender and coping: Use of distinct strategies and associations with stress and depression

摘要: Abstract I evaluated gender differences in the use of three distinct coping strategies, and associations between those stress, symptoms depression. In a sample men women from two universities, which included many non-traditional students, used slightly more social support seeking than men, but did not differ problem-solving or avoidance. There were no coping, depression for seeking. Problem-solving was weak predictor depression, surprisingly, stress—depression relationship stronger participants who problem-solving. Social moderated equally women. Avoidance powerful women; however, it exacerbated negative effect stress only men.
