摘要: The feasibility of small animal imaging using a clinical positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner with [F-18]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) was evaluated. As tumor-bearing models, rabbits VX-2 liver tumors, rats mammary tumors on the back, and mice LS174T human colon tumor xenografts were prepared. Two-dimensional PET, CT, fused PET/CT images obtained reconstructed combined system conventional protocol for humans dedicated high-resolution mode protocols specialized each species. Estimated radioactivity concentrations in normal organs determined noninvasively FDG-PET/CT compared actual tissue levels from gamma-counting after vivisection rats. In addition, recovery-corrected calculated evaluated tumor/normal organ sizes measured CT. Tumors clearly visualized by protocols, considered suitable research purposes. With aid thin-slice CT-mapping images, FDG uptake correctly localized viable regions. mice, increased varying activity observed, but detailed anatomical information not optimally provided even protocols. estimated close to (r = 0.97, P 2 cm without recovery correction >1 correction). Evaluation within possible CT images. Dedicated would be better suited evaluating likely could enhance smaller or Although it has limitations, may quite adequate sequential noninvasive oncology because is high resolution, allowing localization PET findings more precise estimation concentration through partial volume corrections.
