摘要: Recent years have seen an extraordinary resurgence of interest in the process gentrification, accompanied by a surge articles published on topic. This article looks at some recent literature — both scholarly and popular considers reasons why often highly critical perspectives gentrification that we saw earlier decades dwindled. Whilst number could be put forward, three particular are discussed. First, resilience theoretical ideological squabbles over causes expense examining its effects; second, demise displacement as defining feature research question; third, pervasive influence neoliberal urban policies ‘social mix’ central city neighbourhoods. It is argued ‘eviction’ from field which they were once plentiful has serious implications for those risk reclaiming term who sugarcoated what was not so long ago ‘dirty word’ (Smith, 1996) essential if political challenges to can effective.
