摘要: Abstract Sediment cores from Lake Mikri Prespa, NW Greece were examined to determine the extent and possible causes of environmental degradation in wetland. While diatom analyses a 210 Pb-dated sediment core demonstrate that lake does not appear have undergone any significant changes water quality within last seventy years, variations accumulation rate discovered. These be linked changing anthropogenic pressures on landscape involving river diversion, rural depopulation abandonment terracing cultivation development an extensive irrigation network catchment. It is concluded application palaeoecological methods has important role play management wetland ecosystems by providing temporal context which timing, trends nature can established evaluated.
