摘要: [1] We have investigated the environmental controls of seasonally resolved records oxygen and carbon isotopes modern Mercenaria mercenaria bivalves collected live from five coastal sites along east coast North America. Seasonal profiles δ18O δ13C obtained by subsampling incremental growth layers aragonite were compared with in situ historical temperature salinity. We show that M. track accurately seasonal variations water rates do not affect shell values. Growth are strongly reduced or interrupted below temperatures ranging 8 to 10°C, implying only sampled tropical areas full amplitude variations. Although further measurements a better understanding δ18O-salinity relationships necessary, appear precipitate their close isotopic equilibrium. Whereas reflects temperature, annual average decreases latitude, reflecting trend rainfall riverwater latitude over Northern American continent.
