摘要: A challenge dose of nicotine (0.4 mg kg−1 s.c.) produced a long-lasting potentiation (LLP) field EPSPs evoked in the dentate gyrus by stimulation medial perforant path urethane-anaesthetized rats primed four weeks previously with seven daily injections (0.8 s.c.). The same did not alter saline vehicle. Systemic injection either mecamylamine or propranolol, 30 min before challenge, prevented induction LLP without affecting baseline but neither drug affected when given after it was established. Since nicotine-priming regime is known to increase tyrosine hydroxylase activity and hippocampal noradrenaline release response results suggest that systemic released sufficient nicotine-primed induce β-adrenoceptor-mediated LLP.
