摘要: In a previous communication 1 we expressed the opinion that jaundice of nuclei brain, condition frequently referred to as kernikterus, is result an injury those cellular masses during which they become stained secondarily with bile pigments. Pigmentation in this probably occurs same way intravital dyes generally localize zones injury. It was pointed out kernikterus almost exclusively association icterus gravis neonatorum and infection may be etiologic factor many cases latter condition. Conceptions pathogenesis underlying cerebral are, at best, hypothetic. Among possible pathogenic factors mentioned: (1) postinfectious encephalitic processes; (2) birth trauma or asphyxia (3) maldevelopment. Whether pigments, aside from their staining properties, play significant role subsequent evolution clinical anatomic
