Fabrication of bulk glassy Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 alloy of 30 mm in diameter by a suction casting method

摘要: A bulk glassy Zr 55 Al 10 Ni 5 Cu 30 alloy in a cylindrical form with diameter of mm and length 50 was produced by sucking the molten into copper mold. The force generated from rapid movement (5.0 m/s) piston which set at center hearth. velocity is evaluated to be as high 22.1 kg/s. Neither cavity nor hole seen transverse cross section alloy. glass transition temperature (T g ), crystallization x ) supercooled liquid region defined ΔT (=T -T are nearly same those for melt-spun ribbon thickness μm, spite significant difference sample three orders. Furthermore, there no appreciable T , over whole cast sample. Vickers hardness number 523, agreement that (=510) corresponding cylinders diameters below 15 nm. Thus, direct production suction casting method important future development alloys.
