摘要: The buckling stress of a cylindrical shell is determined for various circumferential distributions axial stress. development based on small deflection theory, with finite difference techniques being applied to derive the general form governing algebraic linear homogeneous equations. equations are cast in both determinant and matrix forms, latter suitable commonly used iteration solution. Numerical results obtained by means highspeed digital computer cases wherein distribution described 32 elements. I t found tha pure bending, more complicated as well, not much higher than uniform compression. Cases indicated where theory directly applicable.
