摘要: In a search for botanical products to control the main insect pest of stored cowpea, Callosobruchus maculatus, 33 traditionally used African plants were tested in laboratory their toxic and repellent effects against this beetle. Toxicity was evaluated measuring life history parameters no-choice situation. Powders Nicotiana tabacum, Tephrosia vogelii Securidaca longepedunculata significantly reduced number progeny. Repellence by observing behaviour female beetles exposed treated untreated beans linear olfactometer. Clausena anisata, Dracaena arborea, T. vogelii, Momordica charantia Blumea aurita beetle, whereas Chamaecrista nigricans, Azadirachta indica Hyptis suaveolens attractive. Our results indicate that may provide effective C. maculatus cowpea.
