摘要: Initial data were generated on the use of alcohol and other drugs by Cambodian refugee women their families (N = 120) in two sites: Massachusetts California. Information frequency situations surrounding use, culturally specific was elicited. In those where perceived as a problem, majority problem drinkers husbands. About 45% East Coast women, however, said they used for nervousness, stress, headaches, insomnia pain. addition, about 15% reported that family member street having dependency problems. While or not problematic West Coast, over 58% using prescription self-treatment illnesses than targeted prescription. When misused it most frequently to get an altered state, "street drug effect". Numerous stressors influence during pressures acculturation U.S. lifestyle. Some may turn self-medication form alcohol, sleeping pills, drugs. A better understanding how why these make coping choices is needed.
